About me
Hello! Thanks for visiting my website. I’d like to take the opportunity to share with you a little bit about my professional experience as an English teacher. I’ve also shared with you some of the things I get up to when I’m not teaching.
Work experience
I started working as an English teacher over 15 years ago in my hometown, Preston. As well as teaching in a private language school, I also taught Academic and General English at UCLAN (the University of Central Lancashire). I had the pleasure of teaching groups of multilingual students and loved meeting people from countries like Saudi Arabia, Poland, Italy, Spain, Thailand, China…I could go on!
I moved to Spain in 2010 and began teaching in a small private language school in Carmona, near Sevilla, in Andalucia, Spain. I gained valuable experience teaching teenagers and children. After two years in Carmona, I moved 30 minutes down the road to Sevilla, where I began teaching at ELI (English Language Institute). I started to focus on Cambridge exam preparation and taught B1, B2 and C1.
I took the DELTA* in 2016 & 2017 and this ignited my passion for vocabulary and pronunciation. I began teaching in Liverpool every summer on their pre-sessional programmes, which aim to prepare post-graduate students for higher education in the UK.
Like many of us, I made the transition to teaching online during Covid. Since then, I’ve focused my energies on English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Business English and exam preparation. I also dedicate a lot of time to materials development and course design.

*What is the DELTA qualification?
DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a Masters-level qualification which trains teachers on both practical classroom skills and the theory behind English-language learning.

When I’m not teaching
When I’m not teaching, you’ll often find me wandering around the streets of Sevilla, looking for a nice sunny spot to sit and enjoy a coffee or a beer.
I’m a qualified yoga teacher and try to keep as active as possible when I’m not tied to my desk. Although I’ve just bought a house in the countryside north of Sevilla, I can’t deny my itchy feet and desire to visit new places. One of my favourite things to do is explore unknown places and gain new experiences. Some of my most recent trips include Bulgaria, Morocco and Malta.
My family and friends are top priorities, so spending quality time with them takes up a big chunk of my free time.
